The Lost Kite and the Ugadi Festival
Story Highlights
(Scene: A sunny afternoon in a small village near Mysuru. Birds are chirping. Ravi stands under a tree, looking worried.)
Ravi: (looking up) Oh no! My kite is gone! I worked so hard to make it for the Ugadi festival. Where did it fly away?
(Surya enters, carrying a bunch of sugarcane sticks.)
Surya: (smiling) What happened, Ravi? You look so sad.
Ravi: (sighs) My kite flew up and disappeared. I think the wind took it.
Surya: I saw something red and yellow stuck in the mango tree near my house. Maybe that's your kite!
Ravi: Really? (excited) That's mine! But how can I get it down?
Surya: Don't worry, I'll help. My father has a long bamboo stick. We can use it.
(They walk to Surya's house. The kite is hanging from a branch.)
Ravi: (looking up) There it is! My beautiful kite!
(Surya carefully climbs a few steps and uses the stick to bring it down.)
Surya: (handing it to him) Here you go, Ravi. Safe and sound!
Ravi: Thank you, Surya! I thought I'd lost it forever.
Surya: (smiling) I'm glad I could help. Remember last week when I asked you to help me fix my cricket bat? You said you were too busy.
Ravi: (feeling shy) Yes... I'm sorry, Surya. I should have helped you.
Surya: It's okay. We can play together after the festival if you want.
Ravi: (happily) Yes! And I'll make a kite for you too.
(They laugh and walk toward the playground, holding the kite together.)
